Industrialisation took its toll on hand crafts craftmanship and led to the loss of age-old traditions such as the charcoal burners of the Monti Sabini(Sabine mountains), paper manufacturers of Frasso Sabino and the lime workers of Montasola. However there is still an ancient tradition of handcrafts and trades in the Sabine; it is possible to find tablecloths and sheets woven on antique looms, hand-woven baskets, homemade soaps, ceramics, wrought iron and much more.
